This documentary, filmed by explorer Edward G. Salisbury, had lovely footage of various South Sea Islands, and towards the end, some not-so-lovely footage of warring headhunters flaunting their trophies. The expedition starts out of Los Angeles and with the help of an animated map, the route is shown. The ship first lands in the Marquesa Islands before Salisbury and his crew slowly head farther and father away from civilization, first pausing in the Samoan Islands, and farther in, to the Fiji Islands where they first encounter cannibals. It is the Solomon Islands where Salisbury finds the natives battling it out and performing war dances which last for days. This is also where the most graphic scenes of the headhunters appear. The film was tinted, which enhanced the shots of lush tropical foliage and waterfalls.
