None too handsome and none too bright, Bertie nonetheless plans to elope with the girl of his dreams. To expedite this undertaking, he employs the services of a balky automobile and a worn-out horse. The film rolls its merry way towards what Variety described as a "ludicrous climax." Unfortunately, the reviewer failed to reveal the nature of this climax, thus the ending of the film has been lost to the ages. It is known, however, that the film was well photographed and acted. Bertie's Elopement was originally released on the same reel as the Selig Western farce Big Medicine.
