In a sweatshop in Tehran, one might imagine that dog-eat-dog competition for survival governs every action of the women working there, but one would be wrong. In this moving story, the poor women of the shop band together to help one of their fellow workers pay for an operation for her beloved grandmother. In addition to working extra hours and contributing their pay for that work to the operation, the shop's accountant has briefly embezzled a sum to contribute. Even the shop's informer, who could get rewarded for telling on her co-workers, has a change of heart and doesn't tell on them. Of course, the boss finds out anyway and by his lights should fire them, but where else would he find such cheap, willing labor?
