In an era rife with mother love, Warner Bros. gave fathers equal time with this simple little film. Silas Wadsworth (Charles Eldridge) is a modest shoemaker, but he manages to send his son, Arthur (John Bohn), to college with the help of two pals, Albert Grimes (Walter McEvan) and Peter Trotwood (William J. Gross). At school, Arthur becomes a football star and falls in love with a society girl, Marian Hancock (Edith Stockton). Because of the social status he has gained while away from home, Arthur is now ashamed of his father and wires him not to come to the wedding reception. Silas, however, wants to see his boy and he shows up with his pals. Even though Arthur has tried to hide his humble past, Marian wants to get to know his father, so she goes to his hometown. She learns to love Silas, who becomes ill from a broken heart. Arthur is called for, and he finds Marian by his father's bedside. There is a reconciliation all around.
