A kindly farmer who rises at the crack of dawn to feed his pigs and chickens to the tune of opera singer Victoria Rossellini is faced with a barnyard revolt when his Rossellini record inexplicably disappears in director Luc Beauchamp's poetic and impressionistic documentary. Every morning, Arthur tends to the farm while piping in a recording of Rossellini played on an old phonograph. One day, after presiding over the birth of piglets, selecting young pigs for the factory, and caring for the various other inhabitants of his farm, Arthur rises to discover that his Rossellini album has vanished without a trace. Though Arthur tries desperately to placate his animals by bringing in other opera singers, a disco celebrity, and an entire mariachi band, the damage has been done and the farmer's once-predictable routine suddenly devolves into a catastrophic fantasy. With the pigs on hunger strike and the chickens clucking out dire warnings, Arthur struggles to restore order to his farm before it is completely consumed by the chaos.
