Earle Williams, once voted the most popular man in films, stars in the Vitagraph 5-reeler Apartment 29. Williams plays a theatrical impresario who can't seem to please an influential critic. To convince his nemesis that his actors are the most convincing and credible in the business, Williams stages a "real life" incident. It sounds a lot like Earl Derr Biggers' Seven Keys to Baldpate, but Edward Montagne's screenplay was listed as an original. Elements of the plot of Apartment 29 were later incorporated into James Whale's The Great Garrick (1937)-not to mention any number of murder mysteries.
