Filmmaker Maani Petgar offers a witty and telling look at differing reactions to a natural phenomenon in this short documentary. On August 11, 1999, Iran experienced a total solar eclipse (the last of the 20th century), an event much commented upon by the local news media as well as the folks on the street. In An Eclipse Which Dropped From The Sky, Petgar interviews observers about the eclipse and what it means to them as well as intercutting highlights from television news coverage, in which a number of commentators insist upon attributing a spiritual importance to the eclipse. An Eclipse Which Dropped From The Sky was screened in competition at the 2007 Rotterdam International Film Festival.
