Greek filmmaker Omiros Efstratiadis directed this clichéd, spottily amusing lark, an unexpectedly light surprise to those who know him for the powerful and downbeat festival favorite Agoria Stin Pornia (1985). The story deals with three slackers, Akakios (Makis Demiris), Souyias (Antonis Papadopoulos), and Frixos (Alekos Tzanetakos), whose lives consist of hanging out, chasing girls, and bumming around while dreaming of winning the lottery. Eventually, their belief in the lottery dwindles and they decide to turn Souyias' historic old house into a discotheque. While working in the garden, the friends dig up a scroll from the 1400s which establishes Souyias' great-great-great-grandfather as the owner and ruler of Cyprus. Amazed at their good fortune, the trio heads to Cyprus, followed by three girls who hope to snag the scroll for themselves. Eventually, they succeed in tricking Souyias and stealing the rights to rule Cyprus, but this devastating development matters not, because (in a convenient plot device used all too often in 1980s films and television) the whole thing was just a dream Souyias had when he fell asleep under a tree in the garden. Teti Schinaki co-stars with Anna Tsoni and Vicky Grimani.
