This Selig travelogue was released on a split reel with the same company's short comedy How Binks Butted In. The Selig people were among the first filmmakers to make the trek westward to Hollywood; during the really hot months, the studio set up camp in Colorado. Thus it was that, relatively speaking, Yosemite was "right next door." The anonymous cameraman did an excellent job covering the scenic grandeur of the soon-to-be National Park, which must have thrilled those East Coast city dwellers who'd never seen a mountain or canyon. The trade magazine Variety praised the film, noting that a good travelogue was worth a bad one-reel comedy any time.
