In typical Pathe fashion, the title character in A Russian Heroine comes to a sad end. Hoping to stage an uprising against the despotic Czar, a group of Russian peasants try to enlist the aid of the Polish army. One of the peasants is entrusted with the assignment of delivering this request to Poland. En route, he takes refuge in a farmhouse, where the daughter of the household agrees to protect him from the Czar's soldiers. Hero and heroine manage to make their way to Poland, where the girl is entrusted with the all-important return message. Alas, while trying to make it back to her homeland, the girl is killed when she wanders into a Czarist ambush.
