Lucia Lamberti (Ann Kirk) comes to New York from Italy to be with her fiancé, Luigi Sforza (Edmund F. Cobb), who is studying to be a lawyer. Through the help of an Italian banker, Bolano (Richard Cotton), she gets a part in a musical show. She is promoted to featured dancer and it goes to her head. She no longer feels that Luigi is good enough for her and agrees to have dinner with Bolano. But during the evening, she realizes that Bolano's intentions are anything but honorable, so she sneaks out through a window. This is a good thing, since Bolano has angered the Mafia, and one of their men, Pietro (Patrick Calhoun), has planted a time bomb in his apartment. The bomb explodes as scheduled and kills Bolano. After this frightening experience, Lucia realizes that success and fame aren't for her and she returns to Luigi.
