Hugh Gallard (John Lorenz) only married his wife Edna (Marguerite Clayton) because her father was rich. But the old man sees that his son-in-law is worthless, and when he dies, he bequeaths Edna just enough to get by and leaves the rest in the hands of his executor, Daniel Druce (Bryant Washburn). Gallard knows he can get control of the money if he and Edna have a baby, so he decides to adopt and somehow convinces Edna to agree. But Druce sees through the whole scheme, and he realizes that the only way to save Edna is to abscond with all the funds. Edna figures out that her husband is just using her, and since she has no more money, he's happy to divorce her. With Gallard out of the way, Druce returns, and he and Edna -- who have been falling in love this whole time -- get married.
