Things get personal on several levels when a cop's child is injured in this independent thriller. Nacer (Fatah Bensalem) is a New York City police detective who is also a single father; he's been raising his six-year-old daughter Noor (Rasha Seddikioui) on his own since his wife was killed during the 9/11 attacks on the World Trade Center. Noor is shopping in a convenience store when she's caught in the middle of a shootout as gunmen target Omar, a wealthy Algerian businessman who has made some dangerous enemies. Noor takes a bullet and ends up in the hospital, and as her life hangs in the balance, Nacer is determined to find the gunmen and bring them to justice for a crime that angers him both as a father and as an Arab-American struggling to live down the stereotypes held against him. A Men's Affair was the first theatrical feature from director Amine-Kais, an Algerian expatriate living and working in the United States.
