Stage actress Rose Melville was famous for portraying the character of Sis Hopkins in the F. McGrew Willis play, and she eventually made a comedy series for Kalem featuring the quirky little slavey. In this entry, Sis lives next door to Professor Doolittle (Henry Murdock), a "physical culturist." For some odd reason (since Sis is invariably seen in homely, baggy dresses and unflattering pigtails) Doolittle believes that she is a perfect female specimen. To prove his point, he presents her with some workout paraphernalia, which in 1916 consisted of such contraptions as Indian clubs and medicine balls; in her attempts to use these items, she knocks out the maid (actually a good thing since she was planning to run off with the silver). Sis and the professor decide to elope, as does the village undertaker whose name happens to be Skull N. Bones. Various mix-ups ensue before the various characters get themselves, and their marriage partners, straightened out.
