A Day in Congress is just that. This 18-minute documentary guides the viewer through a typical day in the legislative and judicial branches of the US government. The film follows the progress of a new law, from the proposal to the debate to the final vote. There are no professional actors in A Day in Congress; the members of the House and Senate, their assistants and the pages all play themselves. Curiously, for a film that purports to be educational, Congress misrepresents certain aspects of how the two governmental branches work together. The film was the first of a proposed series conceived by Miller McClintock, formerly the president of radio's Mutual Broadcasting System.
