This 500-foot Selig comedy zeroes in on the romance between a pair of country rubes. The girl, a voracious reader, pays no attention to the boy, preferring instead the ideal lover described in her romance novels. Hoping to find a more suitable romantic partner, the girl writes her name and address on an egg which is destined to be shipped to the Big City. By the time an eligible bachelor gets his hands on the egg, it has been in cold storage for several years. Thus it is that when the city slicker arrives in the country to claim his girl, he finds that she has married her hometown boyfriend. Originally released in tandem with Selig's My Friend the Doctor, A Cold Storage Romance was a remake (actually a ripoff) of the Biograph comedy The Affair of an Egg.
