July 12, 2006 marked a fateful day in the Middle East; on that day, Israeli troops responded to Hezbollah's kidnapping of 2 soldiers and the murder of 3 by invading Lebanon. This prompted Hezbollah, in turn, to declare open war on Israel. Mai Masri's documentary 33 Days travels inside of Lebanon following the initial Israeli invasion, and profiles the lives of four young individuals irrevocably altered by these terrifying, cataclysmic events - individuals employed in the fields of theater, emergency relief and mass media. By approaching the subject on this level, Masri puts a personal face on politically-fueled bloodshed and strife.
