Hugh Jackman returns as Wolverine in this sequel to the member of the X-Men's first solo outing. Mark Bomback and The Usual Suspects' Christopher McQuarrie penned the script, which takes its inspiration from the Chris Claremont/Frank Miller Marvel miniseries from the 1980s dealing with the character's adventures in Japan as he fights ninjas in the ceremonial garb of the samurai. Knight and Day's James Mangold directs.
Hah, so so
It's wolverine, enough said (wolverine is awesome)
loved Japan as a background, costumes and actors but what about some coherent storyline? My expectations were too high I guess after Avengers that I thought were fantastic. Lots of great fight scenes but 2 stars off for a silly plot.
Argh I so wanted this to be better. The first half of the film was terrific, with the Japanese backdrop helping create an ominous buildup with some moments of genuine suspense that were refreshingly not dependent on super powers or CGI. But the second half of the film doesn't hold up it's end with a tremendously confusing climax with way too much going on, too many special effects, and very little logic, even for a comic book movie.
NINJAS! Really well made with a seriously badass new ninja girl sidekick. Actually there are plenty of fun women characters in this...
By far the best Wolverine and even X-men installment yet. Jackman is superb, and the Japanese cast are a knock ou.
I am so looking forward to this movie!!!!
